Rawiri and De Niro - K.W.L

what I know

Rapanui is the Maori word for Easter island

Voyagers used the sun, moon, stars, wind, ocean and
Clouds

if they were birds near by their is a island

Polynesians used to collect rainwater

They fished for food

Used winds to navigate
They used wood to make boats

In 2012 two waka-Te Aurere and Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti sailed to Rapa nui

what I want to know

How did maui bring up islands?

What is the statues of Rapa Nui made of?

What is Hawaiki?

How does Maui bring up Island?

How did they make their fishing rods?

Who was the first to use the stars to navigate?

How did they know how to make a canoe or boat?

Where did the polynesian people go when they moved away

What I learned

The statues of Rapa Nui is maori word for Easter Island - The Statues and Rock Art of Rapa Nui. Using basalt stone bricks, the Maori were carved from the solidified volcanic ash of Rano Raraku volcano. They are all monolithic the carvings are created in one piece and an average weight of 20 tons and measuring 20 feet tall or more.

ONE of Maui's homes was near Kauiki, a place well known throughout the Hawaiian Islands because of its strategic importance. For many years it was the site of a fort around which fierce battles were fought by the natives of the island Maui, repelling the invasions of their neighbors from Hawaii.

Haleakala (the House of the Sun), the mountain from which Maui the demi-god snared the sun, looks down ten thousand feet upon the Kauiki headland. Across the channel from Haleakala rises Mauna Kea, "The White Mountain"-the snow-capped-which almost all the year round rears its white head in majesty among the clouds.

My learning about Kuri

                  WALT:learning about Kuri's
Kuri - Dog
How to live with a Kuri
This week I have been reading a text named Kuri by Priscilla Wehi. A key idea in this text is what were kuri like. Kuri were like A wild dog of polynesians origin first introduced to New Zealand by the Maori. When the polynesians cross the Pacific ocean with the kuri they used the kuri like a fishing rod to catch fish.

What to bring with on a ship

When I go on a ship, I would bring a kuri Toiletries and Necessities: The cruise ship should provide soap and shampoo at the very least (and often body lotion, conditioner and body wash), but if you're picky, pack your own. The same goes for hair dryers. Many bring extra hangers on longer cruises to make sure every item that needs to be hung up can be. Dogs help people in a particular can reduce stress playfulness and even improve your cardiovascular health. A healthy coat should feel pliable and smooth even they wiry pelts of dogs lit terriers. Wolves (cocanis coyotes) and (canis latrans), and domestic dogs DNA are the same.

What Kuri can do

What I have learned about kuri, that there are more kinds of Kuri and how they used to live. There are 525 kind of Kuri, Early data shows some kuri ate as well as modern carnivorous dogs while others ate less protein than a modern vegan dog, suggesting they might have had to scavenge for food. The isotope results also show some kuri lived inland while others lived in coastal areas, dining on a rich diet of seabirds and fish.

This is my description of how Kuris lived in pre european days.

My Role Model

I Am Learning To Write My Role Model
A role model who inspires me is Sonny Bill Williams. He is a professional rugby player and is respectful and shows sportsmanship when he plays.

Sonny is a professional rugby player who plays for the Blues. He has been committed to this team for nine years. He shows professional plays on the rugby field he is able to slide on the try line, and does long kicks and jump very high to catch the ball.An example of Sonny being a professional rugby player is a way that he works hard to improve his rugby skills by being committed to rugby training.By being committed to his rugby training he has to be a professional rugby player. Being respectful is another reason why Sonny Bill Williams is a role model that I look up to. sonny has kindness, relationships with his teammates and his fans on and off the field. An example of Sonny showing kindness on the field is that he encourages and shows respectful sportsmanship towards his teammates and coach. Being respectful and kind is important because it helps Sonny to have a can do attitude and work as a team.Having a great sportsmanship and relationship with his teammates and the other teams.

Other great skills that Sonny haves is skills and drills with Sonny Bill Williams at bayleys national sevens and all eyes will be on the bayleys national sevens Rotorua.

International stadium this weekend with sevens rugby and featuring at the Rio Olympics later in the year. The heat won’t just be coming from the field with players.hoping to catch the eye of the selectors, being midsummer in Rotorua will also make it a hot day for everyone at sevens.

Three important facts about Sonny Bill Williams is that he plays all of the drills in the Blues and he his trademark ability to offload while being tackled will make him a big threat in Rio.

Reflecting on our whanaungatanga experience

WALT: Reflecting on our whanaungatanga experience in week four.

A range of team building activities help me to finish how to communicate with others and get to know students more and I have learned the six friendship tips as well.We had tremendously of fun related to Zumba & Circuit Training with Mrs Komor, Sleep Over, Team Building - T1, W4 that help students. with the six friendship tips. The six friendship tips is program that helps kids to become friendly and not to become a bully. If you are a bully you just want to be the poplar student around. If you are gang bullied they are just normal people that are scared of you because they know they can not handle one person on their own.I need to work on my six friendship tips because when I say something wrong it sometimes starts a fight between me and someone us.So the right thing to say is sorry or a nice complement. What I have enjoyed about last week is we did team building and build relationships with others and all so with the teachers.Because us year sevens have just been together for last four weeks building relationships and team build. I look four wound for the rest of the year to get to know students in my class.

Attitude

Today we have one of the teachers son and his name was Tony to come and teach as about attitude program. We learned what attitude animal we are. There where four attitude program they are names are a lion which is a leader,a otter which is funny,a beaver which is smart and dog which is a peacemaker.

What I have learned is if you are not the same as other people that means it can lead to somewhere good.

I am a otter so that means I am funny!!!

                              lion:"let's do it my way!''
otter:"let's do it the fun way
beaver:"let's do it the right way
                              dog:"let's keep the peace''
So what attitude animal do you think you are ?
I am a otter so that means I am funny!!!

Kiwi sports,flag football

On Monday Room 8 went to kiwi sports in the hall. There were two coaches and cones and balls. First they said we are doing flag football and they said they are three positions they are quarter back, wide receiver and half back. After we had got into groups and two or three students will go to each cone and get a ball. Then they told what we have to do for passing to the student in front of us. Next we got told how to catch the ball. Finally we had finished and we said what we had learned and went back to class and it was fun.
